    Does the adhesive in this step need to be replaced? Don't really want to lose the water proofing…

    Usually the adhesive is slightly damaged during the opening procedure which might void the water resistance of the phone. So to re-seal the back cover it’s best to use fresh adhesive. If you don’t find a pre-cut adhesive tailored to the Z5 you can go with double-sided adhesive tape or an adhesive glue. If you find the remaining adhesive in good condition and trust it to do its job, the re-use it by heating it up a little bit and applying pressure to the re-attached back cover for a few hours.

I missed the part about the adhesive for the battery and broke the tabs off. Made it slightly harder but I got it. Thanks for the instructions. Now I can get all my things off of it

Just push and then consolidate with heat, I used hair dryer.
